Fall Urantia Conference 2008

Saturday, September 13, 2008 was the date of our Wisconsin Society of Urantia Book Readers Fall Conference.  What a wonderful conference it was!  We met at a small rustic, cozy farm in the Cascade, WI area, a unique piece of property, snuggled like a bug in a rug amidst lush green trees and grass.  Here you'll find the Field of Errors - a baseball field where you play to have fun and are free to make mistakes.  In another area off in the distance, is the hand-forged first church of the Urantia movement that I"m aware of, the Chapel of the Searching and the Floundering!  (Do I see a pattern here, errors, floundering...?  We are human, after all)  Jeannie, the property owner, tells us that her and her husband, Dwayne, built the chapel from scratch, using all recycled materials.  Inside are two recycled church pews, floral carpet, small but beautiful stained glass window hangings, electric candlelights, a very old-fashioned organ, a rustic pulpit, and charm.  Outside it looks like a classic church building, complete with steeple. 

Today, it was open the doors and see all the people as we enjoyed a presentation on the "Faith of Jesus" as given by longtime Urantia Book reader, Rosemary.  This Faith of Jesus presentation is based on paper 196 of the Urantia Book. As Christians, the typical practice is faith in Jesus - but it's really the faith of Jesus we're after.

You Have A Majestically Guided Purpose

What is it?

The Supreme Purpose of Life is to develop a Majestic and Well-balanced Personality.

There is in the mind of God a divine universal plan in which we play a part.  There is a majestic purpose for the progressive development of, and perfection of, free-willed persons/personalities.  One of the supreme purposes of life is the development of a majestic and well-balanced personality. Within each free-willed person dwells a fragment of the divine - this may be the only positive proof you may ever have in your earthly life that God is real!  This fragment constantly communicates with us and is waiting for us to seek and acknowledge him.  This fragment of the divine is the guiding force that directs all of humanity towards their shared purpose. 

It is God's intention that all free-willed personalities would have eternal life and that they enjoy oneness with him.  Oneness with the mystery of God, the truth of his infinite goodness, endless mercy, matchless wisdom, and superb character. 

The divine spark that dwells within you is faithful to the task of fostering your spiritual welfare, acting as ministers to the higher phases of your mind.  This divine spark is dedicated not to controlling your mind, but to spiritualizing, eternalizing, and improving your thinking processes in preparation for what is to come. 

There is in the mind of God a plan which embraces every creature of all his vast domains, and this plan is an eternal purpose of boundless opportunity, unlimited progress, and endless life. And the infinite treasures of such a matchless career are yours for the striving!

The Urantia Book on the topic of Judgment

"In the great day of the kingdom judgment, many will say to me, `Did we not prophesy in your name and by your name do many wonderful works?' But I will be compelled to say to them, `I never knew you; depart from me you who are false teachers.' But every one who hears this charge and sincerely executes his commission to represent me before men even as I have represented my Father to you, shall find an abundant entrance into my service and into the kingdom of the heavenly Father."

God is looking for a sincere heart and a personal relationship with his children.  Salvation comes to those who sincerely seek the kingdom of God.  There is purpose in everything, in the great march of the Universes through space, and in our human experience through our time here on Earth (Urantia).   Crave the guidance of the fragment of God that dwells within you, ask Him to guide you in eternal progress, to justify you fully at the time of your judgment, and to receive you into eternal life.

Such spirit-born individuals are so remotivated in life that they can calmly stand by while their fondest ambitions perish and their keenest hopes crash; they positively know that such catastrophes are but the redirecting cataclysms which wreck one's temporal creations preliminary to the rearing of the more noble and enduring realities of a new and more sublime level of universe attainment.
