In order to seriously consider alternative religious viewpoints, one must set aside preconceived notions about what is and isn't truth. This goes against every grain in your body, I know. The Urantia Book fills in the gaps that many religious traditions are missing. Bible scholars say that only 29 days of Jesus' life on earth are recorded in the Bible. Why is that? Why are there only 29 days of the life of the Son of God, the Savior of mankind, on record? The Urantia Book fills in the gaps.
We must be practical and try to understand that the Bible was written by man, and the Books of the Bible were put together by man.
While the Urantia Book tells us that Jesus did not die 'for' our sins - it goes on to logically explain why he did die. Jesus did not have to die - we (sinners) killed him because we didn't like the message. Ironically, we as Christians (and I still call myself a Christian), find ourselves in the same predicament that the Jews found themselves in during the time of Jesus. Are we, like Jews, still looking for the Savior to return like a Warrior on a white horse? Are we hoping that God will take vengeance upon all the non-believers and cast them into a burning hell? Is that really the justice we want, and Jesus wants? Jesus will return, but not in the way you think. He will return again to advance the knowledge we have of God.
Jesus came to reveal God to man. Mission accomplished. He then, I believe, leaves society to progress gradually, he gives us the power to shape our society and our beliefs. He, like us, hopes for Peace, Joy, Love, and Happiness.
Jesus is even more wonderful than we have been led to believe by the Bible. I do not discount the Bible - I lift it up - the Bible has changed the world for the better. Christianity is still the best religion on Planet Urantia (Earth). Everywhere Christianity is practiced, civilization has progressed. But the people are reaching a point where they will no longer accept a God who will call himself our Father and yet cast some of his children into hell. We shall no longer be ruled by fear of punishment. We shall be ruled by love and wisdom.
The Urantia Book says the supreme purpose of life is to develop a majestic and well-balanced personality. This life for us is the beginning of an eternal adventure toward perfection and God - and we should use every moment of this life to become more majestic and well-balanced.
The purposes and plans that God has made for us are more wonderful than we can even imagine. Everything that is love is of God - we are to shed, along the way, anything that is not of God. We will learn to keep the good in us, and to drop the bad and the ugly in each of us.
The Urantia Book to date, is boldly and undeniably the most intelligently written book we will ever read. Coming to believe the restored words of Jesus as written in the Urantia Book will be the most difficult thing you've ever done. You don't have to do it - you will not go to hell if you don't read it - you will just have to wait until your resurrection to realize its truths.
